Kristi's Bridal Session
I've been holding onto these images for months now, and since this past Saturday was Kristi and Will's wonderful wedding I can finally share them.
Kristi is a stunning beauty who has a fantastically droll sense of humor and is up for anything. How else would she be willing to look so fierce, traipse along on train tracks, and then snuggle and kiss her dogs, all in her wedding gown? She is a great person who has become a great friend, and I couldn't be happier for her and Will on their marriage. I'll post those images soon, but in the meantime here is her bridal session, and you can also see their engagement session { HERE }.

Kristi very much wanted to include her beloved pooches, Buford and Barney, in the shoot, so I thought it would be fun to evoke the Dutch paintings of the 17th century, when royals were always depicted with their treasured dogs:
I just had to include these next two because you have to appreciate how OBSESSED these dogs are with her (and vice versa) -- note how Buford goes airborne with excitement in the second photo:
Happy honeymooning, guys, can't wait to show you pics from Saturday!

Asheville Wedding: Kristi & Will
It's so easy to over-anticipate things in life only to have them not live up to what you expected. However, the lovely and loving wedding of Kristi and Will does NOT fall into that category! Blog readers have gotten to know them through their { engagement photo session } shot last summer, and Kristi has been an avid { Facebook friend } and blog commenter. She and will are on their honeymoon in India as I write this, and I only hope they will see this post soon!
Their wedding was coordinated by the super-talented { Tara Jordan }, who is one of the nicest people around. I was also so lucky to have my friend { Amanda Caldwell } shoot with me -- this is one of her beautiful shots:

The whole day had a dapper vintage feel to it, with the gents in waistcoats and the ladies draped in cashmere wraps against the Asheville chill.
Kristi gave her bridesmaids copies of "The Velveteen Rabbit" -- you might be able to see that she is writing to "KS," or "Kindred Spirit" -- this is her nickname for her "best woman," Belle, who was so emotional throughout the day that she jokingly called herself Kristi and Will's other wife!
Woven into Kristi's bouquet: a tuft of fur from her beloved dog, Andy, who passed away a few years ago; part of a shared friendship necklace with Belle, and wedding rings from her grandmothers. Here are more details from Kristi's mom:
"Two of the rings, the matching round gold ones, were my parents' wedding rings. Tthe rings were made in France where my parents lived and worked. As a wedding gift, the goldsmith had them engraved. The hexagonal ring belonged to Kristi's great-great grandmother, Lydia, on my mother's side. She and her future husband, Reverend Louis John Brenner, met in Wisconsin in the 1800's. The ring was actually a friendship ring given to her by Louis John in the early 1880's before their marriage.

The bride is so often the eye of the storm, and here is Kristi, taking a deep breath before it's time to head for the sanctuary:
Bride and groom now separated only by a flight of stairs, with Kristi and her dad in the calm of the basement and Will on the main floor:

Belle's toast speech, shot by Amanda:
Here is Kristi's sister Lucie on the dance floor and I just had to include this completely honest moment of exuberance and fun -- it really sums up everyone's feelings about the day and about the couple:
Amanda caught this shot of me during our pretend Vanity Fair shoot (below):
OK, this was a blast. This bunch did not seem like the traditional stand-in-a-row crowd, so we decided to re-enact a { Vanity Fair } cover shoot. Of course, we didn't have Annie Liebovitz, or four days to shoot it or a myriad of assistants and lighting people -- but not bad for a two-minute set-up!
More of our Vanity Fair girls. I love Belle's deadpan expression!
Again, Lucie's great laugh. And you can get a glimpse of Will's dry sense of humor here. What a good sport:
Here I think they look like they could be drinking with { Al Swearengen } on the set of "Deadwood." They are drinking scotch, by the way. Except for Gracie on the far left -- she's still in high school and is drinking ginger ale. (Right, Gracie???)
What a wonderful privilege to have been part of these people's lives for even a brief time -- bless you all!!!
